What is detoxification?

Detoxification is another word for cleansing the body of toxins. We are exposed to toxins every day – in our food, the air we breathe, the environment, medications plus our skin care products. It’s impossible to avoid exposure to toxins, but the body has developed ingenious and sophisticated methods of removing toxins, before they can damage cells. Only, our bodies were never designed for the overload that 21st C living entails.

Why should you detox?

Over time, toxins can accumulate in the body, leaving us feeling lethargic and weary. Toxins can contribute to ill health by interfering with cellular functioning. After a short detox many people report feeling revitalised, energised and clear headed.

Additionally, a detox can help us to re-evaluate our eating habits and may serve as a great mental cleanse, providing a quiet environment to reflect on goals and priorities.


How should we detox?

There are many ways but in this webinar we will talk through the concept of reducing the entry of toxins into the body, increasing the elimination of toxins via the stool and the urine and then flooding the body with high level nutrient juices and soups. Additionally we will be thinking through other supportive mechanisms such as use of the sauna to improve circulation, gentle yoga with a focus on the breathe plus relaxation – an aspect of life which many of us now overlook in 21st C living.

What happens at a juicing retreat?

We will discuss a typical day at the beautiful retreat Amchara in Gozo, an island off Malta. This is such a therapeutic experience which reaches far beyond juice and yoga. Here we will find a quiet space to fully unwind, to meet new like-minded people and spend some time connecting with others but also ourselves.
