Why would lockdown accelerate ageing?

The ageing process is accelerated by anxiety, isolation, poor nutrition, alcohol and sugar. Let's come together to focus on ourselves by following a plant-based (based on plants not artificial vegan foods) 7 day cleanse in a supported environment. You will receive (on the events page) a 7 day meal planner and a bundle of delicious recipes. The checklist will keep you on track and motivation is offered via a Facebook page on which I'll be posting daily. The Facebook page invite will be sent out when you book your ticket.

There is also a document explaining the cleanse principles.

We are focusing on skin healthy plant-based foods including the wonderful watercress. A small 2012 study in the United Kingdom, involved 11 women who ate 80 grams of watercress every day for four weeks. The researchers, led by nutritionist and dietician Sarah Schenker, used a VISIA complexion analysis system on the participants’ complexions before and after the study. After the four weeks, nine women had reduced pores, eight had improved texture, seven had reduced wrinkles, and a majority had increased energy. “Watercress is a rich source of beta carotene needed to quench free radicals, which can cause damage to skin cells,” says Dr. Schenker, adding that the high levels of vitamins C and E contributed to these effects.

What's not to love about this kind of health boosting research. There are a selection of skin boosting nutrients which we will be consuming daily whilst leaving aside the less desirables. The aim is to create some health boosting habits which stay with us.

In order for us to connect I am also offering a 1 hour zoom call on Thursday 26th at 7.30 pm. Zoom link will be sent out to all participants on the morning of. This is purely OPTIONAL but helps us to connect at a self-isolating time. I'll be discussing the cleanse principles and offering a Q&A session.

Hope to see you on the zoom call. If you can't make it, not to worry as all information you need is available on the event's page.

My aim of each CLEANSE:

To offer solidarity at a time when we all need it

To develop healthy rituals which stay with us long after the cleanse period

To inspire taking time over food with interesting and tasty recipes which don’t take long to throw together

To drive nutrition and lifestyle changes which keep us healthier into our later years

I hope you will join me

Let's bound out of lockdown looking 10 years younger :)
